Cool and popular tech tools site MakeUseOf.com was hacked this past weekend.  A site I frequent often and have in my Goggle reader.

imageSome jerk decided to spoof their e-mail address and trick Go Daddy into giving them account access to transfer ownership of the domain and to another domain host. Apparently this was accomplish through a couple of security holes in Gmail (Spoofing of e-mail address and password hack). Then of all things they try to blackmail them into buying it back asking for around $2000 for it.

This type of stuff is very scary but at the same time really make me mad and I hope the guy that cause all these problems for them gets what’s coming to him.  I hope Godaddy gets there properly back to them and somehow prevents this from happening to anyone else its ridiculous. If you have Godaddy you might want to question them as to how this was so easily done.

To follow the story or have anyway you can help them, MakeUseOf.com has a temp blog at this link here
