Recently rumored but now confirmed by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Windows Mobile 6.5 have been confirmed and real and should be out sometime within the first couple of months in 2009.  An improved interface and Zune integration is speculated to be features within this release. 

This should hopefully hold people over until Windows Mobile 7 which is still a year away and most likely phones won’t come out with Windows Mobile 7 until 2010
