The Galaxy Note 6 Will Be The Galaxy Note7
Rumors have been around for months about the new Samsung Galaxy Note this year, and it looks like we are going to get the Galaxy Note7. Yes, you read that right Samsung would be skipping the Galaxy Note 6 naming and going with the Galaxy Note7. They most likely being done to bring the numbering scheme up with The Galaxy S7.
I know what you’re thinking already, “Where is the Note 6?” While the numbers may not match up, there has been six smartphones in the Galaxy Note family of phones. We have had the original Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II, Note 3, Note 4, Note Edge, (The one you probably forgot) and the Note 5. So skipping the Note 6 makes sense here for Samsung.
The Galaxy Note7 Is Looking A Lot Like An S7
The recently leaked image from the well-known evleaks shows the appearance of the new Note7. It takes a lot of design cues from the Galaxy S7 Edge. For specs we are expecting to see the following:
- 5.7-inch QUAD HD Super AMOLED display with dual edges
- Snapdragon 823 processor
- 6GB of RAM
- 64 GB of storage
- Micro SD card Slot. Supports up to 200 GB
- 12-megapixel Rear Camera
- 5-megapixel front facing camera
- UBS Type-C with Fast Adaptive Charging
- Fast Wireless Charging
- Always-on Display
- Improved S Pen
- Iris Scanner
- Heart Rate Monitor
- IP68 Dust & Water Resistant
- 4,200 mAH Battery
- Colors: Black Onyx, Silver Titanium, and Blue Coral
Out of all those specs, the one that stands out unique is the Iris scanner. It’s expected to be at the top front of the Note7 next to the front facing the camera and will allow you to unlock your phone with your eye. I’m also wondering if there will be other uses for the Iris scanner like to help with motion controlled gestures?
A photo also leaked about the launch event that is expected to happen in New York City on 8/2. Usually, the release date happens a couple of weeks after the launch event.
