Lenovo IdeaPad 100s Review

The Lenovo IdeaPad 100s is ideal for those looking for a budget laptop that gives you more.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 100s is what I would call a “throwback to the netbook era.”  It’s a 11 inch laptop that starts at a $199 price point and doesn’t skip on quality. You get a solid machine here for those looking for computing on a budget. The IdeaPad 100s comes with a light weight ultrabook design with a poly-carbonate shelltop and small enough to tuck away in a backpack or large purse and not feel like a burden when carrying it around.

The IdeaPad 100s comes with a Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core processor with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage with the ability to add more storage with a Micro SD card.  These specs are good enough to run a full version of Windows 10 Home. There is also an HD display with 1366 x 768 resolution, webcam, 2 USB 2.0 ports and a HDMI port.

Performance is solid for a laptop in this class. It’s mean for web browsing, email and document editing, which it does all 3 very well. Watching videos on YouTube is also pretty good. You’ll want to make sure you looking at the screen dead on as viewing angles are not the best.  Also the speakers are not the loudest and the most clear so I would suggest using a pair of headphones to get better audio quality when listening to music or watching video.  Typing is great as it uses Lenovo well-known keyboard design and layout. Keys are space out well and you won’t feel cramped typing on the keyboard. Keys are also very responsive.

Battery life is also excellent on here. I used the IdeaPad 100s as a normal user in this space would use it. Light web browsing, typed up a few emails and watched some YouTube videos. I was able to get through the day just fine. I carried it with me for a full week and only needed to charge it twice with my usage.

The IdeaPad 100s is mean to be the budget laptop that gives you more than what a more expensive table will give you. It’s for those looking for something lightweight and easy to use and good enough for when you need to have a full PC for your computing needs and come in where you need more power then what your smartphone can do for you.  At this price I would highly recommend it and especially for those looking at a Chromebook. Currently nothing beats having full-blown Windows when it comes to applications and support and the IdeaPad 100s fits that space well.
