Nintendo CEO Saturo Iwata Passes Away At 55

Nintendo's CEO Saturo Iwata has passed away today at the young age of 55.

Today is a very sad day in the gaming world. Nintendo’s CEO Saturo Iwata has passed away today at the young age of 55. The cause of death is reported due to a bile duct growth. Iwata had missed E3 2014 due to health concerns and had had a tumor removed last year and returned to the company shortly after.

Saturo Iwata took over at president of Nintendo in 2002 and let the company to great success with the Nintendo DS, 3DS and Wii consoles. He first came into the company as a programmer at HAL, a Nintendo subsidiary. He worked on games like Earthbound and Balloon Fight.

Currently there is no word of of who will replace him as CEO but currently Genyo Takeda and Sigeru Miyamoto will take over the reigns for now.
