You'll need to download or install your paid copy of the PS4 version to start.
If your on a PS5 and own Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the PS5 upgrade is available to you. You need to have purchased either a digital or physical copy of the game to get the free upgrade.
The process is also a bit messy to properly get the upgrade. So hopefully this video will help.
