Nvidia Announces TITAN V: The Most Powerful GPU Ever For $3000

Nvidia's release the new TITAN V for AI, Deep learning, and supercomputing work. It's their most powerful GPU ever made for $3000.

Nvidia release TITAN V for AI and Supercomputing

Nvidia has unveiled the next generation of graphics cards with the Nvidia Titan V. The new GPU based on the  Volta architecture has a keen focus on AI and scientific simulation processing. The Card packs 12 GB of HBM2 memory with 5120 CUDA cores and 640 of the new “tensor cores” which assist with deep-learning processing. The card is said to have 21.1 billion transistors on it and will be able to produce 110 teraflops of performance power for a price tag of $2999.

At that price its clear that this card isn’t mean for the average consumer or gamer. Its target market is those working in AI and need powerful processing. Nvidia just released the Pascal architecture a year ago with the GTX 1080, and it remains one of the top GPUs to get for gaming. I don’t believe we will see Volta hit the more consumer-friendly gaming market anytime soon until there is a need for it, which could happen if Nvidia allows game developers to take advantage of Volta for better gaming performance.

“Our vision for Volta was to push the outer limits of high-performance computing and AI. We broke new ground with its new processor architecture, instructions, numerical formats, memory architecture and processor links,” Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang says in a statement. “With Titan V, we are putting Volta into the hands of researchers and scientists all over the world. I can’t wait to see their breakthrough discoveries.”

With that statement above from Nvidia’s CEO I’d recommend keeping an eye on this card and see where the technology goes. What we are seeing here is Nvidia looking to stake a hold in the AI and machine learning business which will be the future of everything we do with technology daily.  If you are interested in buying a Titan V its’ available now for a $3000 price tag and limit of two per customer.
