The new RTX 3000 series were revealed today with the RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3090. All three new cards use the Nvidia AMPERE Architecture, which is the 2nd generation of RTX technology. Let start with the RTX 3080.
The RTX 3080 is the new flagship GPU from Nvidia coming with 30 Shader-TFLOPS, 58-RT-TFLOPS, 238 Tensor-TFLOPS and 10 GB of GDDR6X video ram and starting at $699 and available on September 7th
Next, we have the RTX 3070, which will be the mid-tier cost-friendly option with 20 Shaders-TFLOPS, 40 RT-TFLOPS, 163 Tensor-TFLOPS with 8 GB of GDDR6 no X RAM and starting at a $499 price point available in October.
Then there is the Big Daddy or Big Father or BFGPU the RTX 3090, which brings Nvidia Titan level specs with 36 Shader-TFLOPS, 69 RT- TFLOPS, 285 Tensor TFLOPS, 24 GB of GDDR6X video ram and will start at $1499. Nvidia claims that this is the world’s first 8K gaming GPU with RTX On with DLSS8K, 8K HDR ShadowPlay, AV1 Decode, and HDMI 2.1.
The new cards come with some further cooling and requirements. The new cooling systems use Dual-Axial Flow-through thermal solution for up to 2x better cooling performance. There is also a further 12 Pin power connector that each card will come with an adapter for, but you’ll need to make sure that your power supply is at least 750Watts and two eight-pin power connectors to work wit ha new RTX 3000 series card.
No pre-order sites just yet, We’ll just have to wait until September 17th for the 3080, which is what I’ll be looking to pick up coming from a 1080ti. I may have found my upgrade, but if your looking promotion, which one is yours? Let me know in the comments below cause I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on these new cards.
