Samsung Galaxy S7 Rumors & Predictions

We are just less then a month away from the new Galaxy S7. Here are 7 rumors & predictions that we believe will happen when the next Samsung Galaxy smartphone is revealed!

7 Galaxy S7 Rumors & Predictions YOutuber

Well it’s that time of the year again!  It’s time for Samsung to unveil the next generation in the Samsung Galaxy line of smartphones. Samsung is looking to continue on the success of the Galaxy S6. It’s premium design and slightly pared down Touch Wiz software was a popular change for many smartphone buyers out there. There are tons of rumors out there on what Samsung is going to do next but I have 7 rumors and predictions for what I expect to see from the Galaxy S7.

1. The Galaxy S7 will look and feel like the Galaxy S6 with small tweaks.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! Samsung has a winning design with the Galaxy S6 and I don’t think they are going to do any drastic changes to the phone’s design for the Galaxy S7. It will have the same metal and glass build and will hopefully add coating to help with fingerprints and how slipper the phone can be. Don’t expect to see much change then a few cosmetic changes to make it stand out a bit for the S6 but I expect the S7 to look very much like it’s predecessor.

2. The Galaxy S7’s processor will be a Samsung made Snapdragon 820

Samsung made an agreement with Qualcomm to produce Snapdragon 820 processors. This pretty much guarantees that the Galaxy S7 will have a Snapdragon 820 and I think it will be across all variants of the device, US and International version.  While I have preferred  Samsung’s Exynos processor for their own devices that run Touch Wiz because performance seem to be better I know many folks are fans of Snapdragon’s processors and it seems as though they have improved a lot over the critically panned Snapdragon 810 from last year. While LeTV Le Max Pro is the first to come with a Snapdragon 820, Samsung will be the first to bring it to the market on a mass scale.  And as for ram, no doubt it will be 4 GB standard.

3. The Galaxy S7 will have a new camera with a 1/2 inch sensor

Samsung has always put out a quality camera and last year’s 16 megapixel camera that was in the Galxay S6 and in the  Galaxy Note 5 was one of the best on android. But the competition has pick up with both Apple and LG improving cameras and especially with LG’s G4 and V10 which were top mobile camera performers last year.  Increase the sensor size to a 1/2 inch will allow more light, color and overall data which will product a higher quality photo. However with this change the rumors are that the resolution will drop down to 12 Megapixels and while the sensor is far more important then the megapixel size, it can be difficult to explain that to the average consumer. I can see Samsung branding their camera with a name like “S Vision”, or “S-Camera” or whatever similar to how Apple calls the cameras on their phones iSight. This can help with the marketing pitch.  Now with that increasing sensor size we may also see 4K recording at 60 FPS which would be pretty awesome video quality. I also expect to see more manual controls similar to what we’ve seen from LG’s cameras last year.

4. The Galaxy S6 Will have USB Type-C Charging

USB Type-C is the future and we’re slowly seeing many phones come with it like the Nexus 6P and Lumia 950. USB TYpe-C support faster charging and data speeds and while wireless charging speeds are increasing, it still doesn’t match up to the speed of plug-in charging. Samsung will have to make t he change at some point and the Galaxy S7 makes the most send to begin that change.

5. The Galaxy S7 will have 3 Non-Removal Battery Types

Battery life was the biggest knock on the Galaxy S6 with it having a smaller battery. Samsung will need to look at increase the battery size to improve battery life and with a good chance the build quality will be the same as before, there is a good chance of another non-removable battery at the capacity of 2800 mAH, 2850 mAH and 3000 mAH. That should be enough to get you through the day. Notice that I mentioned 3 battery sizes. The reason for that is coming up next.

6. Samsung will release a Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge Plus

Samsung will bring 3 devices to start of 2016 with a standard S7 and S7 Edge models and they will also bring the S7 Edge Plus to début with the rest of the Galaxy S7 lineup. It makes sense to move it away from the Galaxy Note series as that is it’s own lineup and the S7 Edge Plus is going to line up better with the standard Galaxy S family. The screen sizes for each should be 5.1 inches for the Galaxy S7, Curved 5.1 inch display for the S7 Edge and a 5.7 inch curved display for the Galaxy S7 Edge Plus.  Each should come with QHD+ Displays with higher PPI  and batteries in each should go 2800 mAH, 2850 mAh and 3000 mAh respectively.

7. Android 6.0.1 with optimized Touch Wiz with help from Google

There is no doubt that the Galaxy S7 will come with Android 6.0.1 out of the box and Touch Wiz will be layered on top of it. For many Touch Wiz is not the most thrilling experience for some using android, but this time around they will be getting help from Google to better optimize the software as rumors suggest. This with the combination of working with Qualcomm should create a quality software experience that should best any version of Touch Wiz. This may be the key into making the Galaxy S7 successful.

Bonus: Micro SD Card Storage Will Return

Well I said I would give 7 but a bonus one won’t right? Well I’m going to take a wild guess on this but I believe we will see the return of micro SD card storage on the Galaxy S7. It’s one of the most missed features and there were many folks that did not upgrade their phone because they wanted to keep their SD card storage.  I predict that it will make a return and support up to 2 TB of storage. However if we don’t see it come to the Galaxy S7 then we can kiss it goodbye forever.
