Samsung Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo Update Now Available

Galaxy S8
Android 8.0 for the Galaxy S8 rolls out for Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint customers.

Android 8.0 Oreo Is Finally Coming To THe Galaxy S8

While the focus for Samsung right now is on the Galaxy S9, they still have time to show some love to last years big hit the Galaxy S8. Starting today if you own a Galaxy S8 and on either Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint you will receive the new Android 8.0 update.

The new update will give Galaxy S8 users the new “Samsung Experience 9.0” which matches the same version on the Galaxy S9. This update will bring cool features like lock screen customization, new Samsung Keyboard, and Edge Lighting effects. Samsung continues to refine their experience on top of Android, and these changes should be received positivity from Galaxy S8 owners.

The more important features from this update are under the hood. The update brings the Galaxy S8 to Android 8.0, which comes with a lot of changes to allow much smoother upgrades in the future. Some key features are a more refined notification hierarchy and a lockdown on background processes running. The latter should help improve battery life.

If you’re on Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint, you should automatically receive the update starting now. You can also manually download the update if you don’t want to wait. There isn’t any word yet on when AT&T or unlocked US variants will receive the update but I’m sure it won’t be too far behind.
