DROID Incredible 4G LTE
The DROID Incredible 4G LTE is stuck between a success and a hard place.

The DROID Incredible 4G LTE is stuck between a success and a hard place. On paper, the Incredible 4G stacks up extremely well with what the market now offers consumers. That’s the successful aspect of the device. The only problem lies in its demographic of people it’s trying to reach. Being priced at a not so cheap $149.99, the consumer has a multitude of different options and variations of devices they can choose. Let’s see whether the Incredible 4G has what it takes to stand out from the rest.

DROID Design, DROID Hardware

From a visual standpoint, the Incredible 4G LTE has gone a long way to change its cosmetic appearance when comparing it to its cousin, the HTC One S. Gone are the oxidized metal unibody elements and thin profile. Verizon/HTC have gone more with the DROID line theme here and have given it a rather weird Sci-Fi looking exterior.

The rear of the device includes a humped backing with angular cuts to add design cues to it. Part of the back is given a linear grippage that feels great in the han but collects dust and fingerprint oil very easily. HTC has also given the camera lens a red accent to add to the device being provided by Verizon.

Overall the design isn’t too bad, but the added thickness and knowing how beautifully crafted its cousin in the HTC One S leaves you wanting more.

Specs on the Incredible 4G LTE are 5 star quality. You get a 1.2ghz dual-core S4 Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of Ram, 8MP Rear-Facing Camera which record 1080p HD video, Front-Facing camera (VGA), and a 4.0 inch SuperLCD display. To sum it all up, the combination of all these specs run smoothly on the device without a hitch.

The 4.0 inch SuperLCD on the Incredible looks pretty amazing. Since the screen is smaller, the pixel density is increased drastically to make up for it. Brightness, viewing angles, and responsiveness were all pleasant experiences.

Quality Camera That Lacks A Powerful Punch

Even tho the Incredible 4G is missing the image processing unit that the One S and One X have, the image quality isn’t reduced enough to warrant a rant. Still images came out beautiful. Colors and images came out with high clarity (in well lit lighting conditions). Video is where the device takes a hit. The framerate really makes recording and watching the video you just recorded, a very unpleasant experience. Stabilization is a major issue when recording and the switching of lighting conditions dramatically affects the quality of the video.

Overall, you’ll be “content” with the camera experience on the Incredible 4G. Not happy nor upset.

HTC Sense Finally Makes Sense And Peforms As The Hardware Intended

HTC Sense 4.0. It’s new, it’s different, and FINALLY bearable. The Incredible 4G is running HTC’s latest skin on top of Android 4.0 and I must say the experience has changed from earlier encounters with HTC devices. Sense seems better on a smaller screen display and not on a larger one. The UI elements seem crisper and more in line with what HTC is truly going for. Day to day use of the device showed very few hiccups if any at all.

Battery life is definitely a highlight of the device. Packing all this hardware would lead you to believe it would need some heavy “mah” treatment to get your through reasonable use. That wasn’t the case as the 1750mah battery was more than enough to get the job done. HTC has really optimized the hardware and software on this device. HTC shouldn’t be struggling financially as they make quality products that get the job done ; the industry is just too competitive now.

Making phone calls on the device was nothing but pleasant. Callers sounded crystal clear and the feeling was mutual on both ends. You wouldn’t expect any less from the Big Red network.

The 4G LTE speeds can’t be expressed better than utter bliss. When I say LTE technology is the future, I’m not being a theorist . Verizon’s coverage covers over 75% of the nation and when actually connected to it, provided speeds in the vicinity of 20Mbps – 30Mbps. If you want quality service for your money, then please go nowhere else but Verizon.

Solider Offering Minus A Few Setbacks

When it gets down to it, the DROID Incredible 4G LTE s a device that packs a lot of value. The only question that arises when purchasing the device is does it give you value for your buck. There are plenty of other devices on Verizon’s network that offer what the Incredible 4G LTE does for fewer $ or a bit more. It will really come down to personal preference on this one folks. Regardless of what you choose, any HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE owner will walk away satisfied with their purchase.

I'm a 21 year old college student whose obsession with tech began only a few years ago. From iOS, Android, and currently being a Windows Phone user, I’ve come to be well-informed on whats truly happening in the mobile ecosystem of these amazing pieces of technology. When you get down to the basics, all innovation begins with pushing the boundaries of whats already known and extending it to another frontier. I get excited just realizing how far the smart phone has come from its re-birth with the iPhone. We haven’t even begun to reach the climactic point of what these devices can do, and I for one plan to be there every step of the way.
